Be A Better Bud Challenge Winner |

Make a difference in your community and Be A Better Bud in your neighborhood! On July 27, 2013 YPN-ULEM was the recipient of $8,000.00 for the Be A Better Bud Challenge and outstanding Community Service projects.
In 2013, the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) partnered with Anheuser Busch on the Be A Better Bud Challenge (the “Competition”) that was an initiative to inspire and challenge the Young Professional chapters around the United States to launch community service projects that would make a positive difference in the communities they serve! The Competition was intended to provide recognition to the young professional chapters (collectively, “Contestants”) for developing innovative community service projects that enhance education and/or economic empowerment. YP chapters were required to submit a brief and basic a 90-second (max.) video (per entry) detailing their service project(s). Chapters also had the option to submit a 500-word (max.) description of their idea, how it works, and how the project impacts the community. The service project must impact either education or economic empowerment. Project submissions were due by 5:00pm (EST), Wednesday, May 8, 2013. There were no limits to the number of projects that a chapter could submit. Requirements:
Judging: All submissions that meet the application requirements would be posted online and reviewed by a judging committee. The review committee includes NUL and Anheuser Busch executives. The judging will also consider projects that included online votes, likes and video views generated by the chapters. The judges used the following criteria:
Awarding: YP Chapters that receive high scores from the judging committee and a minimum of 50 votes were awarded a $4,000.00 unrestricted grant for their chapter to use toward future projects and initiatives. Additional cash awards were made to outstanding YP Chapter Community Service Projects on July 27, 2013 at the National Urban League Conference in Philadelphia! |
